Welcome to Year 2 at
Burman Infant School!
In Year 2, we are passionate about creating an engaging and enriching learning experience for all of our children, helping them develop confidence, independence and a love of learning as they prepare for their transition to Junior School.
Our dedicated Year 2 team includes:
Miss Goddard and Mrs Brockie (Class 5 Teachers) and Mrs Roxburgh (Class 6 Teacher).
Alongside our fantastic support staff: Mrs Doherty (Year 2 Teaching Assistant), and Mrs Walker, Ms Rae and Ms Lui (Teaching and Learning Support Assistants).
A Unique and Exciting Year
Year 2 is a time of exploration, discovery, and growth. As the oldest children in our Infant School, we encourage every child to take on new responsibilities, build resilience, and develop key skills that will support them as they move forward in their learning journey. Our carefully designed curriculum ensures that every child is challenged, engaged, and inspired.
From learning about significant people in history who have shaped our world, to exploring the UK and comparing it to an intriguingly different country, our topics are designed to spark curiosity and develop a deeper understanding of the world. We also delve into historical events that have had a lasting impact on human history, through fascinating discussions, hands-on activities and immersive experiences.
A New and Inspiring Curriculum
Our school is continually evolving, and we are proud of the vast improvements and the exciting, enriched curriculum we now offer. We ensure that our Year 2 learning is engaging, inclusive and tailored to meet the needs of every child, allowing them to reach their full potential in a supportive and nurturing environment.
Exciting Experiences, Trips and Visitors
Learning extends far beyond the classroom in Year 2!
Our children benefit from a variety of enriching experiences, including:
- A KS1 Theatre Visit in the Autumn Term.
- Playing the steel pan drums, a fantastic musical experience that allows them to explore rhythm, culture and creativity.
- Forest School sessions, where children develop confidence, problem-solving skills and a love for nature through hands-on outdoor learning.
- Visits from inspiring guests and experts who bring our topics to life.
- An optional residential trip to Edgmond Hall in Shropshire in the Summer Term, where they develop teamwork, confidence and a sense of adventure.
We look forward to an amazing year filled with discovery, fun and memorable experiences in Year 2!
