Welcome to Reception at
Burman Infant School!
We are so excited to welcome you and your child to Reception – the first step in their school journey! This year is an exciting time of growth, learning, and discovery, where your child will develop key skills that will set the foundation for their future education.
In Reception, we focus on building your child’s independence, encouraging children to explore, interact with their peers and develop resilience. We will build on the learning already gained in Nursery and help the children to develop new skills, that will guide them throughout their school years. Our team will be with them every step of the way, fostering a nurturing environment, which encourages a love for learning.
Throughout the year, our curriculum offers a dynamic learning experience that engages children with a wide range of topics, fostering a deeper understanding of the world around them. We explore the significance of families, the changing seasons, and environments both near and far. We have carefully selected enhancements such as a visit from an animal expert and an exciting ‘story hunt’ to ensure an interactive experience. Additionally, visits to places like the Burman Garden and the Sea Life Centre provide real-world experiences that bring learning to life.
Our Team: Mrs Shipway (Class 1 Teacher), Miss Jackson (Class 1 Teacher), Miss Hughes-Dennis (FKS Leader / Class 2 Teacher) Mrs Long (Class 1 Teaching Assistant), Mrs Mullard (Class 2 Teaching Assistant), Mrs Seager (Reception Teaching and Learning Support Assistant) and Mrs Hollins (Reception Teaching Assistant).
We all look forward to welcoming you to our Burman Family!
